Non-E.U. CCP May Not Need State Approval To Clear

Central counterparty clearinghouses from outside the European Union will not require approval from individual member states to clear over-the-counter derivatives for E.U. financial institutions, reports COOConnect.

Central counterparty clearinghouses from outside the European Union will not require approval from individual member states to clear over-the-counter derivatives for E.U. financial institutions as long as the European Securities and Market Authority does, according to a draft proposal. The European Parliament had called for approval by each state.
