Efforts to weaken proposed European Commission regulations governing derivatives are counterproductive, according to Eric Kolodner, managing director of electronic trading platform Tradeweb. Kolodner was referring to a report drafted by Werner Langen, a German member of the European Parliament, that proposed limiting clearing to derivatives execution outside an exchange. He said such a distinction “potentially creates a significant regulatory loophole” that could undermine the regulations’ goals.’
