It’s a homecoming of sorts for Neil Harvey. The veteran banker and asset manager returned last month to Credit Suisse in Hong Kong, where he had served as head of Asian investment banking earlier this decade, to take up a challenging new post: managing director and head of Asia-Pacific and emerging markets for the Swiss bank’s asset management division. Harvey, 47, left Moscow-based investment bank Renaissance Group, where he had been deputy CEO. Prior to that, he co-founded Bennelong Asset Management, an Asia-Pacific–focused hedge fund.

Harvey’s new mandate: to build up Credit Suisse’s Asian money management business by taking advantage of an expected surge of institutional and retail funds into emerging markets.

Zimbabwe-born Harvey thinks he’s in the right place at the right time. “There are good reasons to think the emerging-markets countries will continue to outpace the rest of the world substantially in coming years.”
