The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision proposal to force systemically important firms to meet’ higher capital requirements could affect between 15 and 26 institutions globally, according Tim Ryan, ceo of the Global Financial Markets Association. In a memo to board members of the Financial Stability Board following a meeting in Frankfurt, Ryan stated that while a capital buffer is likely, “the structure, amount and implementation timeline is still undecided.”
