The Eli Lilly and Co. Foundation is seeking to spend $30 million to further support the Lilly MDR-TB Partnership in its fight against multidrug-resistant tuberculosis. The proceeds will be used to advance the partnership’s efforts in two key areas of focus over the next five years, expertise and health workers as well as safe drugs.

Initially, Lilly contributed $70 million to launch the partnership, put MDR-TB on the global health agenda and transfer technology for two Lilly medicines used to treat MDR-TB to other manufacturers. The Lilly MDR-TB Partnership will continue to work with partners at the international and local levels, focusing on China, India, Russia and South Africa, the four countries with the highest burden of MDR-TB.
