The liquidity of U.S. banks is generally stronger than standards by the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision suggests, according to Fitch Ratings. In a new report on liquidity, Fitch support its assertion by pointing to the treatment of banks’ large portfolio of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac-related securities by U.S. regulators.
