U.S. Firms Seek Exemption Form Derivs Rules

The financial units of U.S. manufacturing companies are asking regulators which companies will escape the new derivatives rules.

The financial units of U.S. manufacturing companies are asking regulators which companies will escape the new derivatives rules, The Wall Street Journal reports. The units are seeking the same exemption that their parent companies are expected to receive.

Caterpillar Financial Services, Boeing Capital, John Deere Financial and Ford Motor Credit have sent letters to regulators. The finance units carry out banking functions by offering loans to customers, to assist the business of the parent companies.
