National Science Foundation Invests In UMass

The National Science Foundation has provided a total of $20 million, five-year grant to the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has provided a total of $20 million, five-year grant to the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). The investment has been made to support a national research center of the university on nanomanufacturing. It will fund the university’s Center for Hierarchical Manufacturing.

The center received a $16 million federal grant and $7 million in state matching funds when it was created in 2006.The center works closely with private companies aiming to expand their business and the Massachusetts economy by tapping into the advanced technology generated and refined by the center.
