Rovio Gets $42M Accel, Atomico Investment

Accel Partners and European early stage investor, Atomico Ventures, have led a $42 million Seria A investment in Rovio.

Accel Partners and European early stage investor, Atomico Ventures, have led a $42 million Seria A investment in Rovio, AltAssets reports. Felicis Ventures also participated in the funding for the Finnish software developer of mobile gaming, Angry Birds. Niklas Zennstrom, founder of Skype and a manager at Atomico, will join Rovio’s board, adds Calgary Herald. Rovio is planning to use the new financing to expand the Angry Birds brand across all media, with possible film and TV deals in the works for the game.
