Citi Appoints Ex-IMF Adviser

Former IMF adviser Willem Buiter joins Citigroup as chief economist.

Willem Buiter has joined Citigroup as chief economist, Bloomberg reports. The former Bank of England policy maker replaces Lewis Alexander, who joined the U.S. Treasury eight months ago.

Buiter is a consultant with Goldman Sachs. Before this, he was chief economist for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and has also advised the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank.
