Greenlight Bounces Back in April

The hedge fund has closed out its “bubble basket” shorts and taken new regional bank stakes.

David Einhorn’s Greenlight Capital bounced back in April, gaining 4.6 percent, according to an individual familiar with the performance. After its first quarter loss of 1.3 percent, Greenlight is now up 3.3 percent for the year, net of fees and expenses.

After last year’s big comeback, when Greenlight posted a 37 percent gain based on its bearish views on the stock market in its best-ever year, the hedge fund is now trailing the market: The S&P 500 is up 9.2
