A Mediocre Year for Multistrategy Funds

Despite emphasizing wildly different strategies, most are up by just single-digit percentages this year.

It has not been a stellar year for multistrategy funds.

Most of the well-known players have posted mostly underwhelming results so far this year, with the exception of Dan Loeb’s Third Point Offshore, which is up 24.9 percent through August.

Others have delivered single-digit gains for the year to date, despite posting profits in August.
