Activism Off to Slow Start in 2019

Starboard, Saba, Elliott top a quarterly report of U.S. activist rankings.

The stock market may be soaring, but shareholder activism is its lowest first-quarter ebb in years, according to a new report from Activist Insight, which tracks shareholder activism around the globe.

The number of companies facing activist demands in the first quarter of 2019 represented the lowest start to the year since 2015, the report said.

Starboard Value emerged as the leading activist in the U.S.,
