Lone Pine Boosts Gains in the Third Quarter, but Predicts Outflows

Stephen Mandel Jr.’s Lone Pine Capital posted a 1 percent gain in its long-short funds in the third quarter, boosting their gains for the year to 10.9 percent — but the firm is predicting that long-planned changes taking effect early next year will trigger substantial outflows in spite of the strong performance, according to an investor.
