Hedge funds often depend on a few key players. Until recently, most of these crucial portfolio managers, traders and analysts acted as though they were immortal. As the industry matures, however, managers and investors are recognizing the need to plan for the unexpected death or disability of a portfolio manager, or even a whole team, perhaps traveling in the same corporate jet.
