When Leon Abudaram joined Citigroup Alternative Investments as chief technology officer in 2002, his mandate was to develop an integrated technology platform robust enough to support what are now 12 independent business units spanning five asset classes. Citigroup had only recently formed CAI to offer investors one-stop shopping for hedge funds, managed futures, structured products, real estate and private equity.
