Some say it’s high time that hedge funds got together and adopted industrywide back office standards -- before regulators or clients force them to do it.

Now that the Securities and Exchange Commission has decided to subject hedge funds to formal oversight, it’s only a matter of time, observers say, before funds’ back-office operations come under regulatory scrutiny.

So how are hedge fund managers responding?

Overwhelmingly, they’re doing nothing.
