Hedge funds are turning to investor-relations management software to improve the quality and efficiency of their client service.

Five years ago hedge funds were the ultimate cottage industry. Fund managers, whose clients were mostly wealthy individuals and adventurous endowments and foundations, could communicate with investors through an occasional phone call and a monthly or quarterly letter. But today, as pension funds are pouring money into hedge funds and funds of hedge funds, marketing and investor relations officers at those firms are facing greater demand from clients for much more extensive and frequent reports.
