The introduction of higher-fee, alpha-enhancing products like hedge funds is one of plan sponsors’ four biggest concerns when it comes to the fees they pay their managers, according to San Francisco–based advisory firm Callan Associates’ 2006 Investment Management Fee Survey. Additionally, investors worry about fees in regard to how much value investments add, the expense of marketing and high transaction costs for strategies involving heavy turnover.
