JAMES PALLOTTA’S MEDIOCRE 8.9 percent return for 2005 seemed out of character. Sure enough, Tudor Investment Corp.'s head of U.S. equity returned to form last year with a net 15.5 percent gain in his Raptor funds. It was the third double-digit performance in four years for Pallotta, 49, who avoided the stock market downdraft earlier this decade.
