Institutional investors believe private equity investments by hedge funds are on the rise. Nearly 79 percent of respondents to our most recent InvestorForum survey expect the percentage of hedge funds investing in private equity to increase. Although 59 percent of respondents expect hedge funds that make private equity investments to deliver higher returns, roughly half of the survey’s respondents also believe most hedge funds are ill-equipped to perform adequate due diligence on privately held companies.*
