Emerging managers that fare best tend to be those that chart their own courses. Those paths, however, can often lead to the same place, and last year it was emerging markets. Four of the ten top-performing start-up funds for the 11 months ended November 30, 2006, as reported to Chicago-based data provider Hedge Fund Research, specialize in emerging markets.
