George Soros nears top of givers list, with $7.2 billion donated

George Soros is among the world’s most generous billionaires. Of the world’s 793 billionaires, according to Forbes, Soros is one of only 11 that have given away $1 billion or more to charity. Soros, who has given away $7.2 billion to date, is the second most active philanthropist, trailing only Microsoft founder Bill Gates, who has given away $28 billion so far.
