Many former prop desk traders have tried to launch hedge funds since federally insured banks stopped trading their own capital in compliance with the Volcker Rule, which officially went into effect in July. But few of these funds have raised much money, as most investors and seeders have been waiting to see whether these managers can successfully run a business.
