A Tough Third Quarter Tames Tiger Global, Hound Partners

While flagship funds for both firms are still up for the year, a rough third quarter puts them on track for their worst years in the past few.

Tiger Global Management and Hound Partners, the most successful of the so-called Tiger Seed funds, which received start-up capital from Tiger Management founder Julian Robertson Jr., posted pretty good results in November. As a result, both New York–based, long-short equity hedge funds are in the black heading into the final month of the year, which is more than many other hedge funds can say.
