Stocks and bond

So much for the renowned male boorishness of the New York Stock Exchange.

So much for the renowned male boorishness of the New York Stock Exchange. The all-woman classical quartet bond expected a little crude behavior when they showed up last month at the bastion of rawboned capitalism , after all, they’re “a band that causes male jaws to drop,” according to The Times of London. But the only thing that dropped was the Dow, which fell 2.4 percent that day. “I was kind of surprised,” says 25-year-old violist Tania Davis. “When we were walking around, hardly anyone dared to say anything. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the chairman was with us.” Dick Grasso personally gave Davis and her bandmates a tour of the trading floor. Later bond , whose name was inspired by Agent 007 , performed four numbers outside Big Board headquarters to promote their new album, Born. How does playing the NYSE compare to, say, London’s Royal Albert Hall? “Absolutely, completely different,” says Davis. “You feel like you’re a part of history at the Royal Albert Hall. When we were playing outside the stock exchange, we had people stopping in the street and listening to us while they ate their lunches.”
