The National Endowment for the Arts, the largest annual national funder of the arts in the U.S., has awarded $22.5 million in grants for projects in 47 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, The Washington Post reports. The larger part of this amount will be granted to non-profit bodies involved with the arts.
Grants ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 will be given to 823 projects under the Art Works program. The independent agency of the U.S. federal government is also giving $25,000 grants to 40 individual writers who have been awarded creative writing fellowships.
