Mining baron and philanthropist Seymour Schulich has given $100 million for a new scholarship scheme.

Mining baron and philanthropist Seymour Schulich has given $100 million for a new scholarship scheme, The Gazette reports. The Schulich Leader Scholarships will be available to the country’s science, technology, engineering and math students and will provide $60,000 in funding over four years.

Toronto’s United Jewish Appeal will administer the scholarships, to be fully implemented by 2014. The endowment is the second largest gift to the academia in Canada.
