The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation will give a total of $50 million to more than 200 performing artists, dance companies, theaters and presenters, New York Times reports. The New York–based foundation, which was set up in 1996, will award the grants over 10 years.

The Doris Duke Performing Artists Initiative, starting next year, will put the money in artists’ future work with flexible multi-year cash awards of as much as $275,000. The program will provide support to artists who cannot apply for the funds. They will be chosen through an anonymous peer-review process.
