Whirlpool Puts $212M in U.S. DB Plan

Whirlpool has added a total of $212 million to its U.S. defined benefit plan.

Whirlpool has added a total of $212 million to its U.S. defined benefit (DB) plan, Pensions & Investments reports. The Benton Harbor-based company made the contribution in the first six months of 2011.

Whirlpool may allocate around $300 million to the pension plan this year. As of December 31, the total assets of the plan were worth $2.3 billion.
