Intact Buys $2.66B Axa Unit

Canadian property and casualty insurer Intact Financial will acquire Axa’s Canadian business.

Canadian property and casualty insurer Intact Financial will acquire Axa’s Canadian business, The Wall Street Journal reports. The Toronto-based firm will pay $2.66 billion for the acquisition. Intact plans to fund the deal with $517.1 million cash, through the issue of $827.4 million of stock and $1.34 billion of credit facilities. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year.
