India and the U.S. have launched a joint $50 million fund to promote research in clean energy technologies.

India and the U.S. have launched a joint $50 million fund to promote research in clean energy technologies, Reuters reports. The fund will help set up the Indo-U.S. Joint Clean Energy Research and Development Centre.

The research centre will finance academia, institutions and industry from both countries to undertake the research. Both the countries will provide awards in three priority areas, biofuels, building energy efficiency and solar energy, adds DailyIndia.com.
