NJ Hikes Alt Investments Limit

The New Jersey State Investment Council has allowed state’s pension system to increase its investments in alternative investments.

The New Jersey State Investment Council has allowed state’s pension system to increase its investments in alternative investments, Pensions & Investments reports. The pension funds will be allowed to place 38% of assets in alternative investments from the current limit of 28%. The four alternative investment categories are real estate (9%), real assets (7%), private equity (12%) and absolute return (15%). The new rules are set to take effect in May 2011.
