Santander Eyes Argentine Unit Share Sale

Banco Santander is seeking to sell shares of its subsidiary, Banco Santander Rio, on the local stock exchange.

Banco Santander is seeking to sell shares of its subsidiary, Banco Santander Rio, on the local stock exchange, Automated Trader reports. The Spanish banking group has also asked the Argentine authorities for authorization of the sale.

Santander Rio has a small float on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange. The bank is also planning to list its U.K. subsidiary through an initial public offering (IPO) in the fourth quarter of 2011.
