Ariel Investments has launched a new small-cap, deep value publicly-traded mutual fund. The Ariel Discovery Fund will invest in stocks with market capitalizations under $2 billion at the time of initial purchase. David Maley will be the lead portfolio manager of the mutual fund, while Kenneth Kuhrt will be the portfolio manager. Maley, who joined the U.S. investment manager in April 2009, also heads Ariel’s micro-cap value strategy.
