Qualcomm Seeks To Acquire Atheros

Qualcomm is set to acquire California-based Atheros Communications.

Qualcomm is set to acquire California-based Atheros Communications, The Wall Street Journal reports. The companies had previously started the negotiations, which temporarily slowed down as Qualcomm focused on selling off its telecommunications spectrum licenses to AT&T. Financial terms of the expected deal were not disclosed. Atheros, which had revenue of $247 million in the third quarter, designs chips that include radio functions, which once required esoteric materials out of silicon and other low-cost materials used to make other chips.
