The International Capital Market Association‘s new head of its regulatory policy team, Nick Collier, plans to focus on implementation of European wholesale regulation such as the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, transparency and prospectus directives. The ICMA will hold workshops across Europe to compare and contrast how regulators and firms are implementing the directives, said Collier, who was appointed to his post Wednesday. The first one will be in London in March concerning the Luxembourg regulator. The ICMA has been recruiting specialist advisors and lawyers over the last few months to strengthen its professional policy team, Collier said.

Collier replaced Cliff Dammers, secretary general at the International Primary Market Association before it teamed up with the International Securities Market Association in July, to form ICMA. Most recently, Collier was at Instinet Europe for five years as director of international compliance, risk, regulatory and government affairs.
