Marcio Osako of J. Safra Corretora repeats in third place. The São Paulo–based researcher, who reports on eight companies, is appreciated for his “accurate projections and nonconflicted opinions,” as one money manager puts it. Osako is unabashedly bullish on the sector as a whole. “Brazilian postsecondary education offers attractive growth prospects given low penetration, expansion of distance learning, development of student financing, favorable income trends and demand for skilled labor,” he explains. In addition, the government is helping to fuel growth via its Fundo de Financiamento ao Estudante do Ensino Superior loan program. “The increasing penetration of student financing through FIES is favoring the sector by accelerating growth and improving profitability,” Osako adds.— Pam Baker
