Japan leads the race to the bottom (Magazine Version)

The release of Japan’s revised second quarter GDP numbers this month showed a marked slowdown in economic growth: The real GDP growth rate for the second quarter was 1.5%, significantly less than the previous quarter’s 5% growth rate. More interesting is that nominal GDP declined at an annualized rate of 2.5%.
