Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has raised $6.1 billion in a sale of top-rated bonds backed by prime U.K. residential mortgages, Bloomberg reports. The bonds were issued via Arran Mortgage Funding Series 2011-1 Prime U.K.

The transaction included $1.3 billion and $660 million of notes. Three parts of 3.35-year bonds for $1.05 billion, $772 million and $400 million were also issued. The final tranche was for $1.97 billion. RBS, which arranged the sale, also retained some of the top-rated bonds.
