While eBay is battling Carl Icahn, increasing numbers of companies under attack are giving up board seats without a fight, a new report shows.

When the auction website eBay earlier this week blew off Carl Icahn and rejected his bid to place two of his people on its board of directors, the company was simply delaying an inevitable trend that has been playing out in corporate boardrooms of late.
