Kris Haber has a brand to build, but he’s not starting from scratch. The 39-year-old former head of global alternative investments at Lazard Asset Management has just been hired by London-based Threadneedle, where he will lay the groundwork for a major expansion of the British asset manager’s U.S. presence when he takes charge of its North America business and global hedge fund enterprise this month.

Threadneedle, with £58.6 billion ($93.75 billion) under management, is owned by Minneapolis-based Ameriprise Financial and has a strong reputation in Europe that New York–based Haber may be able to leverage — particularly, he says, with “pension fund managers who are reflecting on how they’re going to rebuild their asset allocation models in the wake of the crisis.”
