Ex-Janus Chief Launches Black Capital

Gary Black’s new firm will offer absolute-return strategies to institutional investors.

The former CEO of Janus Capital Group has set up a new firm, Black Capital Management, Pensions & Investments reports. Gary Black’s new money management firm will offer traditional long-only as well as absolute-return strategies to both retail and institutional investors.

Black Capital will be Securities and Exchange Commission registered. Black has been replaced by Timothy Armour, Janus director, on a temporary basis. The investment firm may hire a new CEO by early 2010.
