Gates Foundation To Give $4.5M To WGU

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $4.5 million to the Western Governors University.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has committed $4.5 million to the Western Governors University (WGU). The grant is aimed at leveraging the university’s state subsidiaries in Indiana, Washington and Texas to boost the reach of affordable, competency-based higher education.

The commitment to Indiana will support development and outreach for the university’s first subsidiary WGU Indiana, one of the three units that will be supported by the grant. Founded in 2010, WGU Indiana is an all-online competency-based university.
