Four European nations have banned short selling of financial shares.

Four European nations have banned short selling of financial shares, Financial News reports. National regulators in Spain, Italy, Belgium and France are imposing new bans on short selling or on short positions. France will restrict short-selling of most French financial institutions, including BNP Paribas and Societe Generale, for residents and non-resident investors. The Belgian Financial and Markets Authority also prohibited all short-selling of financial shares.
