Southern Sudan is planning to issue its own currency after it declares independence in July, Bloomberg reports. The value of the currency, called the South Sudan pound, will be controlled in a “managed float” by the Bank of Southern Sudan.

The bank will serve as the central bank of the independent nation. It is still not decided what will be done with the old Sudanese pounds that Sudan has used since the north and the south signed a peace agreement in 2005.
