Brazil Plans Reverse FX Swap Auction

Brazil is planning to carry out a reverse swap auction.

Brazil is planning to carry out a reverse swap auction, The Wall Street Journal reports. The auction will allow investors to exchange contracts tied to the U.S. dollar for paper indexed to domestic interest rates.

The central bank has been using auctions as a measure to address the unwanted appreciation of the Brazilian real against the U.S. dollar. The move will prevent excessive gains of real, which has jumped 42% in the past two years, adds Bloomberg.
