Nigeria Sells $400M In Currency Auction

Nigeria has sold $400 million of foreign currency at an auction.

Nigeria has sold $400 million of foreign currency at an auction, Bloomberg reports. Nigerian lenders had requested for $473 million of foreign currency from Abuja-based Central Bank of Nigeria. The central bank is likely to reduce dollar supply at the auctions to cut speculative buying. The central bank has only met lenders’ demand for foreign currency twice out of the last 20 auctions held in 2011.
