Barclays Buys Citi’s Egg Card Unit

Barclays will acquire the Egg U.K. credit-card business from Citigroup.

Barclays will acquire the Egg U.K. credit-card business from Citigroup, The Wall Street Journal reports. The deal comprises £1.8 billion in gross assets, representing 1.2 million customer accounts. The acquisition will add to Barclays’ existing 11 million Barclaycard credit-card customers. The financial details of the transaction were not disclosed but is expected to be about £1.9 billion, adds Financial Times.
