Laos Starts Securities Exchange

Laos Securities Exchange will commence trading on January 11, 2011 with two listed stocks.

Laos Securities Exchange will commence trading on January 11, 2011 with two listed stocks, Financial Times reports. Shares of Electricite du Laos Generation (EDL) and the state-owned bank, Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) will start trading at the bourse.

The government floated 25% of EDL shares and 15% of BCEL’s stock, and seeks to list around five companies by the end of the year. South Korea’s Korea Exchange is investing $9.8 million in the venture, while the Bank of Laos is investing $10.2 million, adds Bloomberg.
